Themes addressed by RESILIENCEPoort
Our societies face a multitude of challenges related to energy, environmental, economic and social issues. RESILIENCEpoort addresses resilience related topics by offering a stage for thought- and industry leaders, facilitating workshops, discussions and research.
The RESILIENCEpoort foundation focuses on four main area’s of interest:
- Infrastructure Resilience: our critical infrastructures are the life lines and nerve systems of our society. Disruptions or malfunctions have a tremendous impact on our economy, health and well being. What actions are needed to bolster these vital systems and how do we foresee and withstand (cyber) threats and shocks that might disrupt our society?
- Climate Resilience: global climate change results in extreme weather conditions and excessive damage impacting lives of millions. Meeting the climate goals and converting to renewable energy sources and circular production methods is just getting traction. In the meanwhile: how do we reduce the impact of the elements of nature?
- Intelligent City Resilience: In an interconnected, data driven world, technology enables us to manage and design our cities in an intelligent and sophisticated way. To balance public and private interests with city dynamics and natural resources we need to reinvent our cities and make them ‘resilient by design’
- Economic Resilience: Having sieged the waves for centuries and hosting the best civil engineers, high tech industries and research institutes, the Dutch are best equipped for shaping the upcoming Resilience Industry. So let’s take the lead.
